cyber danger awareness

BEWARE OF CYBER-CRIMINALS
What is phishing
It is assumed that everyone is aware of cyber-dangers, the question is, “does everyone know all the cyber dangers if not safe enough?”
I have come across the issue of “phishing” as a cyber-crime. Personal information can be revealed such as passwords and credit card numbers by people purporting to be from known companies that’s how phishing can be generally defined but I define phishing as a serious criminal offence and a very dangerous “thing” one can experience.
Dangers of phishing
Its dangers are that since the criminal will have access to your phone passwords, bank pins and son, it will be very easy for the victim to lose their monies (a lot) or even be on debts they do not know of. We need to be aware because phishing emails look legit able, hence it will be easy for the receiver to fall for the trap, “don’t fall for it”. As a criminal you can also serve time in jail if by any chance found.

How it happens
It happens very easily as said above, cyber-criminals are able to steal personal information off of your computer by installing a malicious software. They send email messages and phone that are designed to steal money. These messages contain a lot of spelling errors and bad grammar. This should be suspicious because professional known companies have a staff of copy editors and those specific people will not allow such messages (full of errors). Cyber-criminals also use recognized and popular companies.
They also call you on your phone and sell you a software license claiming it will help with your computer problems. Once they have gained your trust they’ll ask for your password and username, after this process they will have your details as your information will be vulnerable.

How to prevent it
While you are on the site that might be suspicious, one should click the gear icon and then point to safety and by using the web page displayed to report the website by clicking “report unsafe website.

Where to get help
After receiving a fake call, it is important to take the information of the caller, such as a caller ID and report it to the nearest local authorities or you can call 1-800-426-9400. Microsoft tools can also be utilized to report a suspected scam in an email.
